Byaj on an amount that is not in the chart

Byaj grows in step with the amount, so rows add up. ₹2,50,000 at ₹2 sekda is the ₹2,00,000 row plus the ₹50,000 row: ₹4,000 + ₹1,000 = ₹5,000 a month. Or type 2,50,000 in Your amount and the chart adds the row for you.

Exact dates, months and days

The chart is for whole periods. For money lent from one date to another, the byaj calculator counts whole calendar months and then the leftover days, and shows each step. For a number of days only, such as 10 or 45 days, use the interest per day calculator.

Byaj chart: quick answers on amounts and rates

Open ▾

How much is the byaj on ₹50,000 at 2% a month?

₹1,000 a month: 50,000 × 2 ÷ 100. That is ₹33.33 a day, ₹6,000 for 6 months and ₹12,000 for a year at simple interest. If the 2% is a yearly rate, the byaj is only ₹83.33 a month (₹1,000 a year), so always ask whether a rate is per month or per year.

How much is 2% byaj on ₹1,50,000 for one month?

₹3,000 at 2% a month (₹2 sekda): 1,50,000 × 2 ÷ 100. For 6 months that is ₹18,000, and for a year ₹36,000. At 2% a year it would be ₹250 a month. ₹30,000 works the same way: ₹600 a month at 2% a month.

How much is 3% byaj on ₹5,000?

At 3% a month (₹3 sekda), ₹5,000 earns ₹150 a month, ₹900 for 6 months and ₹1,800 for a year. At 3% a year it is ₹150 a year, or ₹12.50 a month. Pick ₹3 sekda in the chart and type 5,000 in Your amount to see the byaj for one day too.

Is the byaj chart simple or compound interest?

Simple. Byaj is charged on the amount only, never on earlier byaj, which is how most sekda loans are agreed. If unpaid byaj is added to the principal each month, the year costs more: ₹1,00,000 at ₹2 sekda is ₹24,000 simple but ₹26,824.18 compounded monthly. The compound interest calculator handles that case.

Which rates does the byaj chart cover?

₹0.5 to ₹5 sekda in steps of 25 paise, which takes in sawa (₹1.25), dedh (₹1.5) and dhai (₹2.5), or 6% to 60% a year. Switching between sekda and % a year keeps the same rate, so ₹2 sekda becomes 24% a year. For any other rate, the byaj calculator takes any figure.

Can I download the byaj chart as a PDF?

Yes. Tap Print / PDF below the chart and choose Save as PDF as the printer. You get a clean page with the rate, every amount in the chart and your own amount if you added one. On a phone you can then share the PDF on WhatsApp like any other file.

Every figure comes from one tested engine and is exact to the paisa. How we calculate
